Gary Walter began Gary Walter Baseball Cards in 1980 while a high school teacher. One of his students came to class with a baseball card magazine and Gary looked it over, amazed to find the cards he had collected(and saved) from his childhood had become valuable. On a day off from school he sold his entire collection, complete sets from the 60's, lots of Rose rookies, etc. But the bug had bitten him and baseball cards became a hobby, then a part time business, and by 1983 his full time occupation.

Gary is married to Joan, his lovely wife of over twenty-five years and has raised each of his kids sorting baseball cards from about age 3. Gary's three children helped out in the business over their growing up years. Kevin is now in his twenties and lives in the Pittsburgh area. Faith is in Med-school in Philadelphia and Hannah is heading for Eastern University.

Gary also serves as Pastor of Congregational Care at Sonrise Community Church in Toms River. The church, which is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, is a growing community which currently meets in the Joseph Citta School in Toms River.
